It’s not a common occurance to deconstruct an in-law suite, but that’s exactly what Woodbine MD homeowners, Joe & Deb, wanted.
Homeowners, Joe & Deb, originally built their home with an in-law suite for an aging parent. When they reached out to Merrell Building, they no longer needed the division. Instead, Joe & Deb were looking to complete a full interior remodel project. This home improvement renovation would increase their kitchen and living space, allowing more room for family functions and entertaining.
Removing the wall separating the kitchen and entryway created an open and welcome environment for friends and family.
While creating an open entryway was important, keeping the existing coat closet was necessary. Thus, the return island and the countertop were carefully planned to make accommodations. Removing the dividing wall between the two parts of the home came next. This opened up the entire space, which let natural light flow through. Next, updated flooring throughout the interior remodel helped create a seamless transition between living environments.
An extensive interior remodeling project, yes!
But, with all the elements this interior remodel added, they now have the space for entertaining family & friends.
